Matt de la Peña is known for his YA novels (Mexican White Boy, The Living) and for his insightful commentary on the power of books for young readers. Now here's a picture book from him that is both tender and real, speaking to the material inequities of life and a child's first encounter with hard questions.This starred review from Kirkus calls Last Stop on Market Street a "textual and artistic tour de force.
